Les Gets
Les Gets is an unspoilt alpine village, a ski resort in the
winter and an activity sports paradise in the summer.
Situated between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc in a picturesque
valley a simple one hour transfer from Geneva airport or an 8
hour drive from the channel ports. Originally a purely farming
community at the turn of the century the resort since has grown
into a delightful place to stay. It has no high rise purpose
built buildings, only a quaint traditional Savoyarde style of
architecture.
There is a weekly traditional market selling local produce,
cheeses, meats, smoked hams etc and hand made gifts . Local
shops range from smart boutiques to sports shops and gift shops.
You'll find a wide range of restaurants from smart to cheap and
cheerful pizza bars. Les Gets has it all.
Skiing first started here in 1938 and the first French ski school
set up here in 1940. Les Gets enjoys its own microclimate, sitting
on the edge of the Portes du Soleil midway between Lake Geneva and
Mont Blanc, it is perfectly placed for great snow. Not only can it
boast an excellent snow record but Les Gets lower slopes are also meadow land,
which holds the snow well all season. Strategically placed
permanent snow cannons ensure you can ski all the way to the village all
season long.
Les Gets is perfect for learning from scratch and building on your skills.
Linking directly to the Portes du Soleil region including 14 resorts, 209 ski
lifts, 288 marked slopes, 243km of cross country skiing tracks, and 7 snow parks.
Whatever your style or level of ability, there's plenty of choice in Les Gets.
In the Summer the ski lifts in Les Gets and the Portes Du Soleil are open
from June to September offering easy access up the mountain for fabulous walking,
mountain biking and stunning views of Mont Blanc. Les Gets also has a golf course
and beautiful leisure lake to lounge around or swim in, set in stunning scenery.
Next to the lake is a fabulous adventure park which is a tree top assault course
for adults and older kids.
